La Quebradora Water Park in Iztapalapa

The beautiful facility is part of a sprawling treatment complex which recycles water and saves resources in a large, deprived section of Mexico City.  It can catch overflow flooding and prevent the need for water imports, but its commitment to the community doesn’t stop there. It’s a place for the public to enjoy too.

The 5th Global Awards for Sustainable Construction appreciated the design which combines cutting-edge water management with compassionate civic awareness and gave the pioneer project its top prize.
