Were you thinking of going to  Oaxaca this year over the Easter break? You’re too late!  All flights are sold out for this years’  season. The southwestern Mexican region has been growing in popularity with tourists and more than 105,000 are projected to visit in the months ahead.

Starting on December 19, however, it will be easier to make that trip. Yesterday Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism, Juan Carlos Rivera Castellanos announced the inauguration of direct flights by American Airlines from Dallas-Ft. Worth to Oaxaca. Reservations will be accepted as early as April 2.

The new route is good news for both tourists and investors as optimism in the market has prompted plans for new hotels in Huatulco, Puerto Escondido, and Oaxaca City. More than  $192 million dollars have been committed for the development efforts. With sunny beaches, rich culture and cuisine Oaxaca is already expecting revenues of over $70 million dollars
